POKER DEADBEAT PROFILE #1
STEVE FREDERICK

Steve Frederick is a college graduate from northern California now living in Las Vegas, NV. His poker addiction has led to him sleeping in his car and showering occasionally at a gym. He only seems to own one pair of clothes. In 2008 he had two cashes. The first was for $616 in a $550 buy-in event, the most recent at Caesars Palace where he won $5k for a $1060 buy in.

Caesars Palace is one of the few strip properties that allows Frederick on property after numerous complaints about him badgering other players for money. Beware of giving him money for poker buy-ins.

  2. I know Steve from the time he lived in NCal. He told me he was into poker and moved to Vegas to see if he could make a life of it. I guess not!! I saw him once at the Bellagio. He told me he was dating and ex-stripper (I was really impressed) and then he tried to hit me up for $500 for a buy-in. He said he'd give me 40% of the amount won. I declined. It's sad to see what has happened to him, but I'm sure his ladyfriend has stuck by him through all of this. I hope he gets his shit together, as it's going to be tough to quit this addiction, and tougher to put his life back together at his age (and lack of employment in the last decade). So very sad.

  3. This website is total BS! I backed Steve dozens of times and he almost always made me money. Never stiffed me on the wins. Lawyer up Steve and sue these clowns!! I'll back you in that enterprise too!!

    2. Nothing to lawyer up about, moron. The dude owes tons of people money. When he finally won 100k at the WPT he had a line of people waiting to get paid back. He hasn't cashed in years he must be working at McDonalds

  4. Out of curiosity, I googled Steve's name. I was in Vegas back in 2007 trying to play poker full time. I played a lot with Steve and had what I would consider to be a very friendly rapport with him; I believe both of us would make efforts to greet each other.

I agreed to spot him in a tournament (he did ask, but there was no arm twisting). The deal was that I would spot him, but would get 30% of his winnings if he cashed (I took all risk, but got some reward). He did cash. However, and very disappointingly this tournament was at the beginning of my stint in Vegas and after asking him everyday, he paid me back on my very last day. However, this payback was 30% of gross before considering the buy-in. I was young and too passive to draw any attention to it, By these calculations, if he had finished in the money even one place lower, I still would have lost money despite his success in the tournament.

Although, I have my own views, I won't editorialize, and simply allow people to make their own judgment based on the above events.
